The main project objective is to introduce into the European market leather produced using environmentally friendly titanium-tanning techniques, which has been registered by INCUSA as SANOTAN® leather. Through this novel process, chromium salts are replaced.
The main expected results are:
- Elimination by 100% of chrome used in the tanning process.
- Reduction of the pollutant load of wastewater from tanneries.
This project is funded by the European Union through the Eco-Innovation Programme. The project TiLEATHER, which is coordinated by INESCOP, relies on the participation of the following companies from the leather and footwear sector: Industrias del Curtido, S.A. (INCUSA) and FLUCHOS in Spain , and EUROKA and MILLE in France .
